Remember getting up hours before the crack of dawn to get the best deals on Black Friday? Or maybe you were one of many to set up camp outside of a store a few days before Black Friday. With so many marketing dollars now being moved to the web, 30% according to Womack and Heller in Becoming a Digital Designer, more and more people are now relying on the web to do their Holiday shopping.
Instead of getting up really early the day after Thanksgiving, you can go shopping whenever you woke up from your “after-Thanksgiving-coma”. You don’t even have to get ready- just shop in your pajamas! The only downside to ordering on the web is the shortened timeline you have to shop, since the items will have to be shipped. You also risk the item being out of stock.
Not to mention, the urge for everyone to get the best deal with the limited number of most-wanted can be very dangerous. Nothing will stop people from trying to get a deal…not even risking their lives. Does anyone remember the trampling at WalMart last year? A WalMart worker lost his life in a stampede when the store’s doors opened last year on Black Friday. Maybe people will learn from this and just stay at home this year and spend more time with their families. That’s what the holiday season is all about anyway: presence, not presents.
